A young person once told me that I am lucky to be doing what I do. I agree, because the camera gives me license
to have experiences that are worlds apart from one another.
In 1999, I covered community news of Volusia County, Florida, for The Orlando Sentinel, and saw such things as the demolishing of a historic church after a fire, a small-town Veterans' Day parade, and the gleeful innocence of the children of farmworkers, oblivious to the poverty in which they live. I'm grateful and happy to be a news photographer.
