FIESTA 2006
The Interstate 35 ramps and byways over Broadway loom over the grandstands as a float goes by during the annual Fiesta Battle of Flowers Parade in San Antonio, Texas, on April 28, 2006.

Burbank High School drummer Miguel Sanchez plays for spectators.
Boy Scout Nicolas Eley joins others in the Boy Scouts Alamo Area Council in carrying a large Old Glory. Sam Wilkinson, 12, pretends to play trumpet as Chloe Collins, 5, pretends to be a drum major.

Isaiah Salinas, 6, gestures at a passing float from his perch atop a fence beneath the I-35 ramps over Broadway .

Confetti-laden eggshells, flowers and ribbons abound during the 10-day San Antonio Fiesta, a party that is often described as a tamer, more family-friendly version of Mardi Gras. The Battle of Flowers parade is one of the highlights of Fiesta.
