San Antonio actors take on role of the Savior as he appeared on Good Friday

Each year, in churches of many denominations throughout the country, passion plays are produced each Easter season.

It is considered a great honor to play the role of Jesus Christ, the central figure in the drama of God's plan for the salvation of humanity.

Above, Roy Moya, 19, of Nuestra Senora de San Juan de los Lagos Catholic Church, portrays Christ in the church's passion play.


Brandon Fender, 22, of of Living Way Church in San Antonio portrays Jesus Christ. Fender has portrayed Christ for six years.	The legs of Christ show the bruises and scars of his torture, as played by Marc Powell, 46, of Tree of LIfe Church.

The risen Christ emerges from his tomb, as played by Mike Wagener of First Baptist Church Universal City, Texas.
