Illegal immigrants mobilize to seek legal status About 18,000 people marched for immigrants' rights in San Antonio on April 10, 2006. Other marches took place in many U.S. cities. The marches were a response to federal lawmakers considering making it a felony to be an illegal immigrant. The marchers, consisting of illegal immgrants and citizen supporters, want to btain legal work permits and residency in the United States. |
