Times Square is a maze of color and lights. Below, baseball fans display their enthusiasm at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

One Day in New York

Simple joys in a sophisticated city

A Yankees' game and a stroll through Times Square are among the greatest pleasures in New York City.

New Yorkers move at breakneck speed, but the casual visitor with no place to go has a grand opportunity to stand by and enjoy perhaps the simplest and most fulfilling activity to be had - people watching.

These photos were made on a Nikon D1 digital camera with IBM 340 MB Microdrive, 17-35mm f2.8 AF Nikkor lens on autofocus. The images were acquired on an Apple Macintosh Powerbook G3 computer using Camera Bits Photo Mechanic Lite, then toned and sized with Adobe Photoshop 5.5.
